This Privacy Policy explains how Massachusetts Record Sealing ("we," "us," or "our"), operated by the Law Office of Patrick T. Donovan, collects, uses, and shares information when you use sealmyrecordma.com (the "Site") and our record-sealing preparation services (the "Services"). By using the Site, you agree to this Policy.

Your criminal-record information is treated as confidential. The details you share with us — through the site, the free eligibility check, chat intake, or uploaded documents — concern your criminal record, the most sensitive information a person can share. Whether or not you become a paying client, we treat it as confidential prospective-client information under the Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct (Rule 1.18). We never sell it, never share it for marketing, and never notify any employer, landlord, court, or government agency that you used this Site.

This Site provides self-help legal preparation. The free tools are for general informational and preparation purposes only and are not legal advice. Using the Site does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship. See our Terms & Conditions.

Information we collect

Information you provide. Your name, email, phone, mailing details, and the case information you enter during eligibility intake or chat (such as charges, dates, court, and disposition), plus any documents you upload (such as your CORI, court dockets, or disposition paperwork) — all used to prepare your petition.
Payment information. Payments are processed by our third-party processor, LawPay/AffiniPay. We do not collect or store your full card number on our servers; LawPay processes payment details under its own privacy and security practices.
Automatically collected data. Device, browser, IP address, pages viewed, and interactions, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see below).

How we use information

To determine eligibility and prepare your record-sealing petition and filing instructions. (We do not handle expungement, §§ 100E–100U; if your matter is outside record sealing, we tell you and refund you.)
To provide attorney review of your prepared materials.
To process payments and provide customer support.
To operate, secure, and improve the Site, and to measure marketing performance.
To comply with legal and professional obligations.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads tags to understand traffic and measure advertising. These tools set cookies and may collect usage and device data. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. We do not sell your personal information.

How we share information

We share information only as needed to provide the Services: with service providers who help us operate — hosting and database, transactional email, payment processing (LawPay/AffiniPay), analytics (Google), and the AI provider that powers intake and drafting, which processes your case details only to provide the service and under confidentiality terms. We may disclose information when required by law or court order, or to protect our rights. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not notify employers, landlords, courts, or any government agency that you used the Site.

Who sees your case information

Your case details are seen by Patrick T. Donovan, Esq. and the systems described above — no one else. The AI intake assistant is software operated under the attorney's supervision, not a person.

Data retention

We retain your information for as long as needed to provide the Services, meet legal and professional-responsibility obligations (including record-keeping rules applicable to attorneys), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion as described below, subject to those obligations.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to legal and professional-responsibility limits.
You may opt out of analytics/advertising cookies as described above.
Massachusetts residents: we handle personal information consistent with applicable Massachusetts law, including the Commonwealth's data-security and breach-notification requirements (M.G.L. c. 93H).

Children

The Site and Services are intended for adults (18+) and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date.
